5 Moo Do Values |
Russ Hanke's Soo Bahk Do College President's
Vision Tour Committee
The mission of Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk
Kwan is
to achieve World Peace through improved human relationships. Along with this
mission, Kwan Jang Nim H.C. Hwang expressed his vision for the future of Soo
Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan. The vision/goal is to ensure the growth of our art for
generations to come. The Kwan Jang Nim has identified
five areas, known as
the 5 Moo Do Values that are vital in the
realization of this vision.
Moo
Do simply means “Martial Way,” it is our discipline and behavior through
the Moo Do
that makes our organization so strong. The
5 Moo Do Values are: History,
Tradition, Philosophy, Discipline/Respect, and Technique. Kwan Jang Nim states
that these areas are the cornerstones of our development as the Moo Do
practitioners we are today.
To communicate this vision and its importance, the Kwan Jang Nim
began the Vision Tour. Through this tour, which was initiated in January of
2003, Kwan Jang Nim H.C. Hwang has traveled the globe instilling the importance
of our mission and these values to all walks of life. The overall goal of this
vision is the “Strengthening of our Foundation.” Kwan Jang Nim H.C. Hwang has
stated that we are the “Foundation” for the future of the art.
As a result of the Vision Tour, the Kwan Jang Nim has charged
each of us to increase the visibility of Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan on a local,
regional, national and international level. To ensure that this vision is made
a reality the Kwan Jang Nim formed the
National President’s Vision Tour Committee.
This
committee of volunteers is
responsible for the coordination of these activities.
From this National Committee
each studio has formed their own Vision Tour Committees to work towards this
common goal. Please visit our studio's
Vision Tour Committee
section to see
the activities that we have been involved in to continue to meet this
objective.
The five
elements of the Moo Do are the tools we have been given with the acceptance of
this gift, and challenge. Using the tools in creative, responsive, ways to make
the Art locally visible is Vision in Action. The concept of national and local
Vision Committees is the vehicle for unifying our efforts and mutual support as
we place the Vision in Action. The measure for success is but one thing:
Growth! |
